The Review

Written by Parent Guide Plus Editors

Percy Jackson follows a 12-year-old boy who discovers he's a demigod, son of Poseidon. The series features fantasy violence including battles with monsters from Greek mythology. Characters face mortal danger and some characters die. The tone is adventurous with moments of genuine tension. Percy deals with parental abandonment (his father's absence), bullying, and ADHD/dyslexia (framed positively as demigod traits). The books mature slightly as the series progresses.
