Monogatari

The level of profanity varies by translation. Some lines carry stronger swearing in the original Japanese, which is softened in English versions, such as "I'll kick your a_s" replacing a stronger Japanese equivalent, or "shut the hell up" replacing a harsher original line.

A character of legal age is implied to be drinking at a hotel bar, though it is not shown or stated directly. In a flashback, a character is shown smoking, consistent with his portrayal in the original. He is depicted with a cigarette again later when brought up in another arc.

A scene of strong violence occurs in the final arc when Kaiki is stabbed by a junior high student, with blood shown pouring from the wound. The moment stands out since the rest of the arc contains no violence.

The series contains less fan service and sexual focus than Nisemonogatari, though occasional fan service, partial nudity, and sexual humor remain. In one scene, two female characters shower together, with the outlines of their breasts and buttocks visible. A recap episode in Nekomonogatari Black features a female character wearing the same skimpy lingerie she wore in the original.
