Silent Witness

Drug use is depicted in several scenes, generally shown to reflect the dangers of hard drugs rather than promote them. Smoking appears incidentally and is not glamorized. Alcohol consumption appears occasionally.

The series centers on forensic pathology and features frequent, detailed autopsy scenes along with bloody crime scene detail. Notable scenes of strong violence include the random stabbing of a woman in the street, a stabbing of a man in a car, a bloody dog attack, the repeated stabbing of a woman in her home shown in slow motion, and a sudden, bloody stabbing of a man in a restaurant.

Sexual content is occasional but sometimes strong, including references to sexual violence. Notable scenes include a man thrusting into a woman in a field with his bare buttocks visible, and a man receiving oral sex from a woman in a bar in view of other men, with no nudity shown but visible movement and moaning. In another scene, police officers watch home-made sex tapes that include a naked man receiving oral sex from a woman.
