What's the Story?

Fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn't remember him—and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him—sparks a change in Peter Parker he may not have the power to control. But that transformation might also be the only thing that can stop a shocking new threat to the city and those he loves - a powerful villain no one can even see.

What's in the title & why it matters

Language Moderate
3/5

Strong language is infrequent, limited to one implied use of "motherf_ck" cut off before completion. Milder terms include "b_tch," "sh_t," "bullsh_t," "a_shole," "a_s," "jackass," "fricking," "jerk," "goddamn," "hell," "damn," "God," "Jesus," and "Christ."

Drinking, Drugs & Smoking Mild
2/5

A brief reference to drugs appears. Characters drink at a party.

Violence & Scariness Moderate
3/5

Violence is frequent and includes punching, kicking, body slamming, shooting, and stabbing, with several bloody injuries shown. A character is hit by a car, partially offscreen, and another slams their head into a windshield. Characters under mind control have their bodies contort abruptly, though nothing graphic is shown.

Sex, Romance & Nudity Mild
2/5

Sexual content is minimal and mostly played for comedy. A woman in a bathhouse meets Peter while sitting nude in a cloudy pool, with nothing visible below her shoulders. She asks Peter to strip to ensure he has no weapons and join her, which he does in boxer briefs. The scene is awkward rather than sexual. A few other scenes show Peter in boxer briefs. A couple kisses briefly on a train.

Diverse Representations Mild

Flow & Focus Mild

The Review

Written by Parent Guide Plus Editors

Brand New Day is an emotionally mature Spider-Man film focused on loss, identity, and resilience. Its central argument is that Peter's hardest battles are internal rather than external, which sets it apart from more action-driven entries in the series.
